Klarissa Winter
Growing up in central Germany, Klarissa started playing the piano at age five, then discovered the drums for herself in her early youth. After a number of years of lessons, Klarissa followed her passion for music and moved to Berlin to study musicology. There, she specialized in rhythm cognition and the phenomenon of “groove” – the feeling of wanting to move along to music that had fascinated her so much when she was playing the drums.
After her studies, Klarissa completed an intensive course at the Drumtrainer Berlin percussion academy, where she expanded her musical capabilities into jazz, Latin and electronics, as well as taking part in numerous workshops by drummers such as Jost Nickel, Mark Guiliana and Claus Hessler.
In the meantime, she played the drums for various hip hop, pop, rock and techno projects, and played at concerts and festivals throughout Europe. Her experience, both live and in the studio, and her enthusiasm for drumming and groove are something Klarissa also passes on to her students. Having received training in our thePlanetDrum teaching method, Klarissa has now been part of our teaching staff since February 2020.
