Timur Salincakli
Born in Ahlen, Timur was given his first drum kit as a Christmas present when he was eight years old, and then started attending music school. When his teacher fell asleep in the third lesson, while Timur was supposed to be playing rudiments on the snare, he decided he’d had enough, and told himself, “One day, I’m going to do that better!”
It was nearly ten years before his interest in percussion was really reawakened. At first he played in a student group, and one year later he was starting his own band. That was when things really got going for him. Timur has been a live musician for Casper since 2010, and he’s already played on the big festival stages, including Rock at the Ring, Hurricane and Wuhlheide. He also worked on the number one album “Hinterland” and the live DVD “Der Druck steigt”.
Timur took a degree in education, and has considerable experience as a youth worker, so he really enjoys working with people, especially teenagers and children.
His preferred styles are hip-hop, groove, funk, standard rock and pop. In 2012, Timur took lessons with Mirko to broaden his horizons and expand his repertoire with new genres, such as Latin and jazz. He was also trained in our thePlanetDrum teaching method. Timur has been part of our thePlanetDrum team since 2015.
